Mascot challenge!

Here's a shot of me and some Toronto student at work!

The PanAm ParaPanAm Games types are looking for kids to design the 2015 mascot, and I'm one of a number of illustrators they've asked to help students come up with ideas.

Here's a video of a workshop I was a few days ago!

Proof!

That I've been  Buffalo Sabres fan all my life AND that the Sabres always have a bevy of great goaltenders!

A more animated Neil

I've been thinking of ways to animate the Neil Flambe stories, and did some cartoon mock-ups of Neil, Larry and Isabella. These are just character studies, but I'll keep working away.

ah, summer....

It's cold out, and much as I love winter (especially when my rink stays frozen) I do miss a warm breeze in my hair as I ride my bike.

So here's a summery sketch of a cyclist... whose thighs may or may not be chemically enhanced.

And my thighs are much smaller... only my butt is big.

Stephen vs. Stephen

Of course every good Pope needs an Anti-Pope. How about Pope Stephen IX (Colbert) vs. Pope Stephen I (Fry)? Who would win?

Here's the original Colbert pic, for reference.

CASH!

Michael Hlinka and I are doing a presentation today -  for teachers - on our book Follow Your Money.

I want it to be fun... so I made my own cash to bring along!

And if it goes well, I'll be bringing some cash to a school or bookstore near you!

(Actually, just ask! Details on school visits on the top of this blog.)

School visits

I love doing school visits, and one of the things I enjoy most is seeing how the kids use my characters, such as my obnoxious teen chef, Neil Flambé.

Samantha used my "how to draw Neil Flambé" video to do this great angry Neil face. (the video in on the neilflambe.com website and somewhere here on the blog).

And Zack, Alex and James made a booklet... and if you flip the pages Neil is waving his fist at you!

And all the kids at Martha Cullimore school greeted me with amazing Neil's outside the great library!

I love visiting schools to talk about all my books, and if you'd like me to come and talk to your students you just have to contact me through the link at the top of this page, or on my website at kevinsylvesterbooks.com

Re-post for no reason

Yeah, I should be working... but am too distractible for some reason.
I still find this photo hilarious. I look like Gordon Ramsay's ventriloquist dummy.
I wonder what he'd have me say?
"Get back to writing you donkey!"maybe?
